If you work at a desk, the chances are you’ve experienced the telltale signs of sitting for too long: back pain, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Today, we’re looking at the Flexispot E7 Pro Plus standing desk which aims to solve those problems and improve your health for less. Flexispot is no newcomer to the standing desk industry and has made a name for itself developing cost effective options that give you the flexibility you need for both work and play. Is the Flexispot E7 Pro Plus the best standing desk on a budget? Find out in this review!

The E7 Pro Plus is the latest standing desk from Flexispot and brings with it the company’s latest features and an impressive 15 year warranty. It comes to market with a starting price of $579, but that can scale up depending on the options and accessories you choose.

And there are plenty of options to choose from: you can select a desk size from 48x24 inches all the way to 80x30 inches. There are four different desk materials — chipboard, fiberboard, solid wood surface, and solid wood — each with different colors and wood grain finishes, totaling 16 different options. Over the years, I’ve used solid color finishes, wood veneer, and with my sample this time, solid wood, and they’ve all looked very nice. The base comes in white, black, or gray, and you have your choice between the advanced keypad and the premium keypad, the latter of which uses a touch screen and has a USB port to fast charge your smartphone. You can also pick up a set of casters and other accessories, like chairs and under-desk bikes if you want to build a whole setup at one time.

The E7 Pro Plus brings a lot to the table (pun totally intended). The frame is able to support up to 355 pounds. You can build your entire gaming setup on top of it and still have 250 pounds or more of room to work with. It’s also exceptionally stable. I can press with full force on one side and only have a minor shake. Small bumps may still cause your monitor to wobble, but in normal use, whether it’s stationary or moving, it’s incredibly steady even at its highest point.

The frame itself is made of carbon steel and uses thicker legs to ensure a long life with enhanced durability. The adjustable height ranges from 22.8 inches to 48.4 inches, so whether you’re 4’2” or 6’4”, you should be able to find comfortable sitting and standing positions. It uses dual motors for smooth, quiet operation and can extend to support desktops up to 80 inches should you ever want to upgrade.

A nice touch on this model is that it includes a metal cable cover that attaches across the crossbar, saving you from needing to manage its different wires. I expected to need to buy cable clips like I have on past standing desks, but this solution is faster, easier, and looks even better.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of the E7 Pro Plus is its 15-year warranty. This covers all parts of the frame, from the motors to the electronics. While $579 puts this desk in the upper middle for standing desk pricing, a guaranteed 15 year lifespan makes that much more reasonable and breaks down to $38.60 a year. The next model down drops that to 10 years, which is still good, but the additional time makes this desk feel like a better long-term investment overall.

Assembling the E7 Pro Plus is straight forward, but does require about 30 minutes and is helped by having two people. The frame comes partially assembled, but you will have to adjust the width and attach the legs and feet before adding the table top. You’ll also need to attach the controller, plug in the legs, and connect the power cord before tucking the excess cable into the gap between the center beam and adding the cable shroud.

The directions are easy to understand and all of the fasteners are clearly labeled. Flexispot also provides you with a combination wrench-screwdriver so you won’t need to bring your own tools. I would highly suggest using a drill with appropriate bits to dramatically speed up the process. Short of that, a ratcheting screwdriver is also helpful.

Assembly, in total, took me half an hour including the time to take pictures.

With the desk fully built, I immediately put it into action as my normal desk at work. I’m a teacher, which means a lot of back and forth between my desk to model something on the smartboard or complete documentation and working with students. The ability to raise the desk to a standing position is absolutely game changing for these instances of bouncing back and forth. It seems small, but not needing to take the time to sit and get back up again has allowed me to feel freer and more efficient at my job.

When the students leave, I spend most afternoons working at my computer on lessons or working on collaborative projects with colleagues. Often, I like to sit during these times. When I work later, I’ll often fight fatigue by standing to stretch my legs and ward off back pain that sets in later in the day.

And it’s here I need to make a confession: when I first got into the world of standing desks and desk converters, I didn’t think I needed one. I wondered whether I would even use it. But I discovered something important: it’s not always about being Mr. Health Conscious. It’s not always about “proper ergonomics” and warding off aches and pains. Until I tried it, I didn’t realize how nice it was to just have the option to stand. Being able to choose how to use my desk is a freedom I didn’t know I needed, and now I can’t go without. And the E7 Pro Plus is an excellent example of a standing desk done right.

For this review, I was sent a solid wood top in dark walnut and it’s gorgeous. The natural wood grain and beautifully dark finish just looks great. I’ve used the solid wood texture on a previous desk, as well as fiberboard, and have seen bamboo and rubberwood. Each looks great, but this solid wood finish is easily my favorite.

Operation is smooth and consistent. The E7 even has an anti-collision feature that works when the desk is traveling in their direction. When it bumped my chair, it automatically stopped and reversed an inch or so. The same was true when one of the cables for my tower got caught and began to pull when moving to standing position. The new controller offers programmable height settings so you can easily set comfortable sitting or standing points to cycle between, and when it moves, it’s quiet enough to not disturb anyone else in the room with me. I also like that the controller now has a built-in USB charger that’s able to fast charge my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The E7 Pro Plus is a great desk, but like many others in this style, it doesn’t come with any storage by default. I’m from the old-school way of thinking and believe that all computer desks should have some kind of storage, but you’ll need to purchase a drawer separately if you need supplies right on hand (also available from Flexispot’s online store ).  If you choose to buy a drawer elsewhere, however, note that the mounting space underneath is only 11 inches deep before hitting the crossbeam, limiting your choices.

The Flexispot E7 Pro Plus is an excellent standing desk with an even better warranty. It’s stable and quiet and offers customization options to make sure you have a desk that you can genuinely be happy with for years to come. It’s not the cheapest standing desk you’ll find, but it’s also not overly expensive for what you’re getting and the assurance of its 15-year warranty. This desk earns our recommendation for it’s excellent balance of features, performance, good looks, and reliability.
